Ask the expert – Christina Reilly

This week we caught up with Christina Reilly, owner of the Christina Reilly hairdressing salon in Glasgow, to see what she loves best about being a Great Lengths qualified stylist…

Tell us about you and your experience in the industry

I’m currently the owner of the Christina Reilly hairdressing salon in Glasgow. I have been a new level 3 stylist for over 11 years and specialise in Great Lengths extensions.

Since qualifying with Great Lengths I have been awarded a Gold Salon status two years in a row from 2013 to 2015, this is something that I am incredibly proud of. I feel extremely lucky to be doing a job I absolutely love and am intensely passionate about.

What made you get into working with pre-bonded hair extensions?

I chose to use Great Lengths pre-bonded hair extensions because they’re really versatile and look so natural. I can enhance the volume, length and colour of my client’s hair without any chemicals. Whether I’m using these extensions for colour, length or volume, there’s nothing I enjoy more than seeing the final transformation.

Why do you think so many people are now choosing hair extensions to enhance their hair?

I think celebrities have a big influence and people are now more aware that most hairstyles you see on your favourite celebrity, whether it is short, mid-length or long, have had their hair ‘enhanced’ with the help of extensions.

For those readers who are yet to try Great Lengths but have always wanted to make more of their hair, what would your advice be?

My advice would be to give Great Lengths a go! Every day is a great hair day with these hair extensions; they can transform your hair and boost confidence.

What’s the most common question you get asked about extensions?

So many clients ask if hair extensions will damage their hair and I can reassure them that they don’t. As long as they are fitted and removed by a qualified Great Lengths professional and well maintained, your hair won’t be damaged.

What do you think the next trend in hair extensions will be?

I think Great Lengths’ Men-Hancements ® will become more popular this year. Male clients are becoming just as interested in Great Lengths as the ladies. From the TOWIE boys to your every-day guy, everyone is getting involved!

What has been your favourite Great Lengths transformation?

One of my favourite transformations has to be for one of my regular clients, who is 72 years old.

She wanted to add hair extensions to create thickness, so I fitted a half head of 30cm hair to her short, thin grown out bob, I then cut it to a graduated bob, with soft layers and face framing techniques. The result was thick and luscious, with a perfect blend of colour.

She cried with happiness in my chair and told me she couldn’t believe she had waited 72 years to have amazing hair!
