Ask the Expert – Mark Summers

This week we caught up with Mark Summers, owner of MAS Hair Extensions in Newcastle upon Tyne, to see why he loves working with Great Lengths…

Tell us about you and your experience in the industry…

I’m currently the owner of MAS Hair Extensions and I’ve been in the hairdressing industry since I left school. When I opened my own business in 2011, I found it very challenging at first but now I would never look back! I have been a certified Great Lengths stylist for three years and I love working with their hair. Great Lengths really make you feel like part of the team, provide valuable support and the benefits are extremely rewarding.

What made you get into working with pre-bonded hair extensions?

I started working with hair extensions whilst at my first job and I was fascinated by the transformation extensions could provide. When I started my own business a friend of mine recommended Great Lengths because of the durability and high quality of the hair. After researching the brand, I decided to train with Great Lengths as I wanted to offer my clients quality hair extensions. I believe that you pay for what you get and Great Lengths is worth every penny.

Why do you think so many people are now choosing hair extensions to enhance their hair?

I think the reason many people are now opting for hair extensions is because of celebrities. These days everywhere you look we are bombarded with celebrities looking glamorous with long gorgeous locks and with hair extensions it’s so easy to achieve this look.

For those readers who are yet to try Great Lengths but have always wanted to make more of their hair, what would your advice be?

My advice would be to book a free consultation with a Great Lengths stylist. During the consultation, the stylist will be able to provide you with a professional opinion based on your hair and help you achieve the look you’ve always dreamed of.

What’s the most common question you get asked about extensions?

Many clients ask if hair extensions will damage their hair. As long as they are fitted and removed by a certified stylist and the correct aftercare is used then there will be no damage.

What do you think the next trend in hair extensions will be?

I think that pastel colours will continue to be a growing trend this year, in particular grey blonde. I think the next hair trend will be long blunt cuts with no layers and hair extensions are perfect for creating this look.

What has been your favourite Great Lengths transformation?

I don’t necessarily have one favourite transformation, as there are so many clients I have loved creating new styles for including celebrities! My favourite part of any transformation is when the client leaves my salon with a big confidence boost.
