Hair of Fame Hero – Cheryl Reid

Congratulations to our October Hair of Fame Hero, Cheryl Reid! This week we caught up with Cheryl to find out more about her work.

Tell us about you and your experience in the industry

I started my hairdressing career in 1999 at a well-known city-centre salon in Glasgow, training in all aspects of hairdressing. I then worked at a salon in west end of Glasgow, before opening my own business. I now run Cheryl Reid Hair, which is based at 132 West Regent Street in Glasgow.

What made you get into working with pre-bonded hair extensions?

I previously wore glue-bonded hair extensions, which wrecked my hair. I said I would never wear extensions again until a client came into my salon wearing Great Lengths. I was so impressed with the quality of the hair and how discreet the bonds were. Straight away, I knew I wanted Great Lengths in my own hair, and that I wanted to offer this brand to my clients.

Why do you think so many people are now choosing hair extensions to enhance their hair?

I think many people are now opting for hair extensions as they are very discreet and look natural. I have clients who only have 50 bonds applied to enhance their hair, and the bonds are unnoticeable. Sometimes less is more with hair extensions.

For those readers who are yet to try Great Lengths but have always wanted to make more of their hair, what would your advice be?

Book a free consultation with your local Great Lengths stylist and discuss the look you want to achieve. Be sure to take pictures with you so they can visualise your desired style. Many of my clients would agree with me when I say, you’ll never look back after having Great Lengths applied.

What’s the most common question you get asked about extensions?

Many of my clients ask how to maintain hair extensions. Clients are always surprised to find out how easy they are to manage, and how their blow-dry actually lasts for longer with hair extensions.

What do you think the next trend in hair extensions will be?

I think more people are opting for hair extensions that look more natural and add volume and body instead of length.

What has been your favourite Great Lengths transformation?

I couldn’t pick one favourite as I have worked on so many amazing transformations. I have such a passion for hair extensions and love colour matching and cutting the hair to make sure they look 100% natural. It is very rewarding to watch the client’s excitement once their new hair extensions have been applied and tailored to suit them.
