Hair of Fame Hero – Jade Searcy

Last month, we hosted our first ever Hair of Fame competition where voters picked their favourite Great Lengths hair transformation. We are thrilled to announce that Jade Searcy from The Abbey, Nottingham is our first ‘Hero’! This week, we caught up with her to see why she likes working with Great Lengths hair extensions….

Tell us about you and your experience in the industry

I first gained experience within the industry when I was thirteen and I worked at my Dad’s barbershop on Saturdays. I quickly became fascinated in how a hairstyle can completely change a person’s appearance and I got a job at a salon where I assisted on photo shoots and competition work. This job changed my view on the hairdressing industry, as I loved how creative you could be as well as still loving the natural, everyday styles. Currently, I work at The Abbey and this is where I found my love for Great Lengths hair extensions.

What made you get into working with pre-bonded hair extensions?

I first started working with Great Lengths when I started at The Abbey. The salon introduced me to an entire new client base, as they are an advanced anti-ageing clinic as well as a hair and beauty salon. This meant I could introduce Great Lengths to the women who use our other services as another way of looking and feeling younger. Great Lengths seemed perfect for our salon as we are dedicated to using the best and latest technology, therefore it only felt right to have what we feel is the best extension brand on board.

Why do you think so many people are now choosing hair extensions to enhance their hair?

I think that a lot of people are now choosing extensions to enhance their hair because they are realising they’re not just for young girls who want really long hair – they’re actually for anybody and for lots of different reasons such as fullness and even colour placement.

For those readers who are yet to try Great Lengths but have always wanted to make more of their hair, what would your advice be?

If you haven’t yet tried Great Lengths but are interested I would definitely recommend you try them. It was personally the best thing I did as it gave me so much more confidence and I love having thick bouncy hair, and my clients all say the same. Great Lengths are so natural looking and so easy to maintain that you actually feel like it’s your own hair – it’s the hair that you always wanted but haven’t got.

What’s the most common question you get asked about extensions?

My clients mainly ask about how Great Lengths hair extensions are applied, as there are a lot of horror stories on the Internet about different extension brands/techniques. I use the Great Lengths’ cold fusion application technique that uses no glue or heat – keeping your hair in great condition.

What do you think the next trend in hair extensions will be?

I think that the next trend in extensions will be to create a more natural look, with bouncy and fuller hair rather than just adding hair extensions for length. Many of my older clients are now requesting Great Lengths and love the results, as they look and feel younger with thicker healthier hair.

What has been your favourite Great Lengths transformation?

My favourite transformation is actually my mum. She had her first set of Great Lengths hair extensions two years ago and has never looked back. She uses them for thickness and they look amazing and natural. This is my favourite transformation because every time I re-apply them I get to see the difference, not only in how good she looks but also how good she feels, which is what I love about my job!
