Iconic hairstyles – then and now

Like fashion, some hairstyle trends never go out of style. Celebs looks today are often influenced by classic hairstyles of the past, with stylists updating and adding to them for a modern day twist. Here are just a few of our favourite looks that we’ve seen return, and develop, over the years…

Twiggy

A mix between a pixie cut and a bob, we’ve seen this cute 60s Twiggy-inspired look on the heads of some of our favourite celebs, from Hollywood A-listers such as Anne Hathaway and Jennifer Lawrence, to our favourite pop babe Frankie Bridges. Our 20cm short hair extensions would work perfectly for a look like this; just by adding these to lengthen the sides or a fringe, could instantly help you achieve this Twiggy look.

Brigitte Bardot

Best known for her iconic look throughout the 1950s and 60s, how could we forget about Brigitte Bardot’s glamorous long, blonde, wavy locks? Celebrities today including Pixie Lott, Laura Whitmore and Mollie King (to name but a few) seem to be following in her footsteps and are opting for this boho style. Many of our stylists use hair extensions to create instant volume for hair just like Brigitte’s volumous style!

Audrey Hepburn

Looking back at Audrey Hepburn’s image, we see gorgeous thick brunette hair in a range of styles. Not only was she constantly changing her image for different movie roles, from a short fringe with shoulder length hair to sleek centre partings, she was always trialing trends and moving with the times. Many brunette stars of today are reminding us of all of these Hepburn styles – we couldn’t help but be reminded of Audrey Hepburn when American beauty Lily Collins sported a short fringe not long ago and now with her same shoulder length hairstyle, her resemblance to Audrey Hepburn is uncanny.
