We caught up with Josh Cave, talented Extensionist at Lisa Shepherd’s salons in Kidderminster…
Tell us about you and your experience in the industry
I am currently a senior stylist working for Great Lengths’ Consumer Ambassador Lisa Shepherd in Kidderminster. I joined Lisa’s in the spring of 2010 as an apprentice and went on to qualify and become a permanent member of the team.
I have thoroughly enjoyed every moment being part of the team – not only have I grown as a stylist, I have also grown my own list of loyal clients.
What made you get into working with pre-bonded hair extensions?
I have worked with extensions in the past so was really intrigued to know what the craze was all about. I’ve always been interested in learning new things and pushing myself that extra little bit further.
Why do you think so many people are now choosing hair extensions to enhance their hair?
I’ve noticed that lot of my clients are starting to realise that many celebrities you see in magazines, TV and film are actually wearing hair extensions – it’s not all natural. Now that extensions are readily available and affordable, people are beginning to realise that they can have hair just like their favourite celebrity.
For those readers who are yet to try Great Lengths but have always wanted to make more of their hair, what would your advice be?
I have been part of the hairdressing industry for almost 7 years now and have seen a lot of different crazes, extensions and brands come and go but Great lengths have seriously taken the market by storm. It takes a lot to ‘wow’ me but Great lengths have done just that – the quality of the hair is amazing, not only is it thick and luxurious but it also looks and feels flawless.
What’s the most common question you get asked about extensions?
I always get asked the same question ‘will they damage my hair?’ And of course the answer is no. As long as you have given the client a thorough, detailed consultation and have informed them on the correct after care procedures, they shouldn’t encounter any problems with maintaining their Great Lengths.
What do you think the next trend in hair extensions will be?
One of the biggest trends is and always has been big bouncy hair but I think as time goes on we’re going to see more people stepping out of their comfort zones and being adventurous with this style. This could mean anything – from bright and beautiful colours to drastic styling – I’m keeping my eye out!
What has been your favourite Great Lengths transformation?
It’s not about favourites for me, it’s more about giving my clients a look they thought they could never achieve. It gives them so much confidence and it’s amazing to see.
I find nothing more rewarding than my clients’ loyalty – when they return to me or recommend me to their friends
