Summer Trends

Our Consumer Ambassador and stylist to the stars Lisa Shepherd shares her top tips and key trends for tremendous tresses this summer.

As we move into the new season, summer trends are in full bloom. It seems like just yesterday that ‘ombré’ was the word on everyone’s lips. Inspired by high contrasts, every girl and their celeb idols sported a two-tone graduation in colour.

But it’s time to say bye-bye ombré! This summer the aim has shifted to a more low-key natural look. Moving away from bold contrasts, natural highlights offer a subtle glow whilst adding a multi-tonal depth to hair. The runways of Badgley Mischka, Michael Kors and Vera Wang are great for inspiration for this look – take a look at the array of sun-kissed brunettes.

And what better way to style this new look than loose waves. Undoubtedly the people’s choice, everyone will opt for this relaxed look both on and off the beach. The buzzword is ‘natural’ and these trendy waves provide a beautifully lived-in texture. It’s time to embrace hair that was styled yesterday if you want to achieve tresses that look effortlessly tousled today!

Another big trend is ‘wet-look’, but don’t worry this is a versatile style you can dress in plenty of different ways. Popular with the fashion-focused, models and celebs, the key thing to remember is that there are no rules – play around with different textures and gels to tailor this trend to you.

Everyone loves a classic and the ponytail is a style that is always in fashion! This season we’ve seen ponytails take on an athletic feel with a minimalist look as spotted at Stella McCartney and Jason Wu. If you prefer something a little more corporate a low ponytail gives a sophisticated finish to any look. Whether it’s high and sleek, or lower and loose any ponytail hits the mark this summer season.
