Are you a Great Lengths certified stylist based in England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland? Do you achieve stunning hair extension transformations for your clients? If so, don’t miss out on this opportunity to showcase your work!
Back for 2016/17 and bigger than ever, the Great Lengths Awards are designed to showcase the versatility of our extensive product range, and your amazing expertise!
With 10 different entry categories to choose from including Bridal, Men-hancments and Creative Colour, there is bound to be at least one that suits you perfectly.
Need a bit of help to pull your entry together? Here are our top tips for success…
Take Time to Plan
Don’t rush into the process of getting your model, applying the hair, and photographing the look. Take time to work out what style will really help you stand out from the competition. Then, once the extensions are applied, allow a little time for them to ‘bed-in’ before you dress the hair – it can be a lot more manageable a few days after application.
Call in Favours, BUT Don’t Spend a Fortune
If you have ever helped out a model, make-up artist, or photographer then now is the time to call-in those favours! Entering these awards shouldn’t be an expensive process for you, and we aren’t expecting magazine quality imagery – use whatever resources you have at your fingertips (and re-use your model if you are entering more than one category), but don’t worry if it isn’t super professional. The hair is what we are looking at.
Get Photos of the Full Transformation
It’s important to show the full transformation process, so take photos of your model before application, during, and after. The before and during shots don’t need to be done by a professional – a clear, good quality phone snap will do the trick.
It also helps to take front, back and side shots of your final creation, to showcase the look from every angle. Just ensure that these final look shots are taken against a plain background.
Look at Previous Winners’ Work
Take inspiration from the work of our previous award winners. If you search ‘spotlight’ on our website, it’ll bring up a list of blogs about our previous winners. These blogs feature their entry work. This will give you a good idea of what we’re looking for.
Entries are open until 1 July 2016, giving you plenty of time to collate your submissions.
We look forward to seeing your amazing work!
