Tell us about you and your experience in the industry

I have been working with extensions for the last 10 years and work from my home studio, Moda In Tresses – which has been awarded a Great Lengths Gold Standard salon status. I also do some freelance work at various leading salons near to where I am based.

I started working in hairdressing after being in the international design and art direction industry; I decided to switch career and specialise in the application of hair extensions. My career has recently included applying hair extensions for various TV personalities, including contestants for the Miss Galaxy Universe shows. The organizer of this show, Sarah Donohue, has been a client of mine for over 4 years and this close connection has helped launch my career in the fitness industry.

I see the application of hair extensions as a type of art and love nothing more than seeing the happy expressions on my clients faces when I’ve really achieved their hair dreams. I find that my artistic background really shines through in the transformations I create for my clients – they often leave my salon looking like a completely new person and are overjoyed with their new style.

I started working with Great Lengths in 2008 and have quite simply fallen in love with the brand – not only is the quality of the hair superb but the ethicality behind sourcing it is also extremely commendable. I think the aftercare range is great too and I offer this to all my clients who have Great Lengths applied.

What do you like about Great Lengths hair extensions?

I particularly like the way that Great Lengths’ pre-bonded hair extensions are virtually undetectable once they have been applied.

Why do you think so many people are now choosing hair extensions to enhance their hair?

People are taking more care than ever with their looks, and they often turn to celebrities for inspiration. As we all know, many celebrities wear extensions to look their best and great quality hair extensions are now really accessible to everyone.

Hair extensions are also a great alternative for those who like to experiment with their hair colour but don’t want to damage their hair with excessive colouring or bleaching. You can have red carpet hair so easily!

For those readers who are yet to try Great Lengths but have always wanted to make more of their hair, what would your advice be?

I would always recommend booking a consultation with a professional Great Lengths stylist to start off with, they will be able to recommend what they think would work best for your hair and how you can use Great Lengths to achieve your perfect look.

What’s the most common question you get asked about extensions?

Without doubt, the most common question I get asked is, ‘will they damage my hair?’
I always reply that it is the application of the hair extensions that could cause damage to hair, not the hair extensions, so it is so important to have them applied by a skilled professional and choose a brand whose application technique is designed to be as kind as possible.

I am very strict in the way I apply hair extensions and would even go as far as to turn work down if a client wanted to have more hair applied than advised.

What do you think the next trend in hair extensions will be?

I predict the next trend to be a mixture of pre-bonded and tape-in extensions to give even more versatility to people’s individual styles.

Colour is also a huge trend at the moment and I think once people realise that you can have plenty of different colours without ruining your hair with colouring or bleaching, the orders will come flooding in.

What has been your favourite Great Lengths transformation?

I love seeing all my clients leave my salon happy, it is such rewarding work giving them the added confidence that comes with looking great and knowing you look great.
