Hair of Fame Hero: Bryony Wintle

Congratulations to this month’s Hair of Fame winner Bryony Wintle, Senior Technician and Great Lengths Extensionist at McQueens Hairdressing. Read on to learn more about Bryony and her hairdressing career so far in our exclusive Q&A.

How did you get into the hairdressing industry?

At the age of 17 I was unsure of what I wanted to do – university or find a job. My mother and I were clients at McQueens and Emma (McQueens Salon Owner) was looking for someone to run reception and social media. I applied for the job and the rest as they say is history! I also went to college where I trained to be a colour technician and worked my way up within the salon to my current role.

Why did you choose to work with Great Lengths?

Emma and I were looking to work with a new brand and wanted a company we could build up a relationship with. Not only is Great Lengths renown for its amazing quality and 100% human hair, but also its customer service is fantastic – for McQueens Great Lengths was the perfect and only choice!

What is your favourite part of the job?

My favorite part of the job is creating dream hair for my clients and seeing their reactions after they’ve had Great Lengths applied.

Who is your celebrity hair inspiration?

My celebrity hair inspiration is Jenna Dewan Tatum – her short dark textured bob is a style I love – so much so, I have it myself! I also get a lot of inspiration from Jen Atkin. I follow her a lot on Instagram and love the simplicity of her cut and styles on her celebrity clients – her hair is great too.

How would your clients describe you?

My clients would probably describe me as confident, inventive and realistic.

What can clients expect when they visit McQueens Hairdressing?

Clients who visit McQueens all know we follow strict and professional standards. There are no alternatives to the highest service and results we offer. We are like a family that welcomes our clients into our home.

What feedback do you receive from your clients who have had Great Lengths extensions?

Our feedback is always so positive. We all wear Great Lengths at the salon so we know the way they can add confidence and help enhance our clients looks, no matter what the hair conundrum.

What hero advice do you give to your clients to help keep their Great Lengths in tip-top condition?

We only provide our Great Lengths service as a package, which includes all aftercare and maintenance visits – this ensures they are always taken care of and we can keep them looking amazing whilst they are being worn.

What is the best piece of advice you can give to stylists who are considering starting out in the hairdressing in business?

I would advise anyone going into this business to be confident, never say no to extra training and look in to developing skills in different areas of the industry. My colouring work and my work with Great Lengths has gained me and my salon lots of interest and praise which makes all the hard work worth while.

What is your favourite Great Lengths transformation to date and why?

My Hair of Fame entry image is one of my favourite transformations to date. The colour blend (Great Lengths) I picked for this client enhanced and complimented the balayage and the added length and thickness resulted in a really beautiful and natural finish. It was so rewarding to see how happy my client was with the final look!

What is your signature style?

My signature style is a simple blunt textured bob / long bob with beachy waves.

What hairstyle do you feel will be a big trend this season?

I think the trend will continue to be shorter blunt cuts, but with added volume and texture, which can be achieved by using Great Lengths. This is something myself and Emma are encouraging a lot more with our clients – just enhancing the natural hair and making it the best it can be.
