Congratulations to our March Hair of Fame Hero, Laura Balmforth from CoCo North, we caught up with Laura this week to find out more about her amazing work.
Tell us about yourself and your experience in the industry
Started hairdressing in 2011 in a salon in Huddersfield Town centre where I did my apprenticeship. I came to CoCo North in 2012 and worked my way up in the 5 years to Senior Stylist.
When did you start applying hair extensions and what do you love about Great Lengths?
I have been applying Great Lengths for 2 years. I love how quickly you can change how someone looks and how they feel about their hair. Especially clients that lack confidence, if they have fine hair that won’t grow, just adding a few bonds to the sides of the hair can make a massive difference. I also love the quality of the Great Lengths hair, I have had Great Lengths in my hair twice now and I’ve loved them! Even on holiday they are so easy to manage and blow dry so smooth.
The feedback I get all the time from my Great Lengths clients are that the bonds are so small and discreet. When they tie their hair up no one can tell they have extensions in.
What are your upcoming trend predictions?
I think that long hair will still be massive this year! The big bouncy blow dries have been very popular but I think more tousled and undone hair will be the front runner this year. Which is why Great Lengths will be perfect to achieve this look as once you’ve washed them and blow dried the bonds if you leave them to dry naturally they create a soft natural wave.
What do you think the biggest challenge of hairdressing is?
The biggest challenge of hairdressing I would say is we all work such long hours but it’s so worth it when you see how much of a difference you make to how people feel about themselves. 10 hour days are rewarding when you get amazing client reviews on Facebook!
