Outstanding headpieces in the Great Lengths ‘Most Creative Hat’ competition during Ladies’ Day at the 2016 Dublin Horse Show

The Dundrum Town Centre Ladies’ Day at the Dublin Horse Show is one of the most popular and prestigious Ladies’ Day outings in Ireland, and this year was no exception. The day welcomed a variety of special guests, but what really got people’s heads turning were the fashionable ladies taking part in the ‘Best Dressed Lady’ competition, as well as the ‘Most Creative Hat’ competition – the latter being sponsored by Great Lengths.

Judge, top blogger and model Louise O’Reilly said, “There was a fantastic atmosphere at this year’s Dundrum Town Centre Ladies’ Day with everyone enjoying the style on the day. The sheer elegance of the crowd blew me away. We had a difficult task to choose just one overall winner.”

The overall winner of the Best Dressed Lady Competition was Claire Murphy from Ardfert in Kerry, who impressed the judges with her light apple green composition. Her hat was designed by former RDS Ladies’ Day winner and Kerry milliner Carol Kennelly, and sat perfectly with her Tina Griffin outfit.

UK entrant Brooke Sketchley won the Great Lengths ‘Most Creative Hat’ competition. Her outstanding headpiece shone from a distance in the sunny afternoon, and for this she received a prize of €1,000 worth of Great Lengths hair extensions, as well as a €1,000 voucher for the 5* Europe Hotel in Kerry.

The second winner in Great Lengths ‘Best Tressed’ competition was Suzanne Riley, who won a €250 voucher for Great Lengths and a €100 goodie bag.

Judge and fashion editor Bairbre Power said, “The standard this year was incredibly high. All entrants went to unbelievable lengths and queued patiently to share their style stories with us. In the end we found really worthy winners.”

Approximately 400 ladies entered the competition at Dundrum Town Centre Ladies’ Day at the Dublin Horse Show this year. The most popular colours on the day were blue, reds and creams, and the most popular themes for the ‘Most Creative Hat’ category were equestrian focused and florals.
