This season we celebrate the not-so-humble hair accessory. From garlands to ribbons, there were oodles of different looks on the SS2016 catwalks, and to help you nail this trend we’ve picked out our favourite five.
Floral Festival Headbands
Think tropical fruits, vibrant flowers and festival fashion! The SS16 catwalk was full of floral hair accessories packed with intense colour and extravagant style. If you’re brave enough to rock one of these headbands then they’re the perfect Spring/Summer accessories to re-vamp your style and make you stand out from the crowd. If you’re loving this trend but not quite ready to go all out then why not channel Anna Sui and go for a simple, yet stand-out single flower brooch? Just pop into your hair for instant an instant wow!
Jeweled Brooches and Headbands
Marc Jacobs and Antonio Marras dominated the runway with beautiful barrettes, brooches and headbands! These hair accessories decorated with gems and jewels are a perfect addition to any hairstyle whether it’s a simple, neat chignon or a messy updo. Don’t just stick with silver or gold, experiment with coloured jewels. If you’re a blonde, pastel fabrics paired with subtle gems looks gorgeous! If you’re brunette or have coloured hair why not experiment with different off-the-wall styles that really pop!
Try this trend for a balance between glam and minimalist chic. The luxury glide trend adds subtle glamour to any hairstyle! Alberta Ferretti partnered these Greek goddess-like accents with twisted hair to transform tresses from simple to stunning! If you want to wear your hair down, why not try a chunkier hair slide. Rodarte mastered this look on the catwalk with a gold, floral accent! This chunky look will suit both blonde and brunette and adds glam to those summer nights.
Pretty Bows and Ribbons
If you prefer a more simple and casual look why not try this trend! Thin or thick, pastel or neon – any ribbon looks gorgeous. On the SS16 catwalks Chanel had metallic bow clips and Dior focused more on simple ribbon turning from choker in the front to hair tie in the back! These unusual designs are a great way of adding a couture touch with minimum cost.
For a preppy touch, add a bend to hair and wear ribbon around a low ponytail. Hair needs to be super soft and shiny to make this trend look luxe – we recommend treating your tresses to a hair mask like our Hair Mask Extra Rich first.
We’ve seen everything from netted headbands at Phillip Lim, to black fabric elastic headbands – this is definitely the most multi-functional accessories trend for SS16. Whether you’re a city girl on the dash or just having a leisurely afternoon, this style is perfect for any occasion.
We recommend wear hair slicked back so the net can sit on top. Fight static and fly-aways with our Serum Hair Fluid.
