Aimee Mallon scoops two trophies at the Great Lengths Awards

When did you first hear about the Great Lengths UK awards?

I first heard about the Great Lengths Awards online, as I am very passionate about this brand and always looking for new, exciting challenges. I thought that this award would be a perfect way to show off my work.

What made you decide to enter the Great Lengths UK awards?

I decided to enter the Awards to showcase my work. I am always so busy in the salon and have a wide variety of clients that travel from as far as Jersey that are always happy with their service, so this made me push myself to enter!

What did you hope to achieve when you decided to enter the awards?

My goal was to win a Great Lengths award but I didn’t think that I’d get so far and become a finalist for two awards in the UK (Best newcomer and Silver Salon!)

How did you go about creating the idea that you eventually submitted? Did you have several ideas or did you settle on your final idea straight away?

I created my final idea after studying fashion magazines and researching catwalk looks. This is why I created a soft beach wave look, as we get asked for this a lot in the salon and it’s always on-trend.

What challenges did you have to overcome to get your idea completed?

The main challenge was finding my model, as my clients range from the ages of 18 to 60! This highlights the versatility of Great Lengths for all types of hair and all ages!

What advice would you give to any salons and stylists that may wish to enter into the next UK GL Awards?

Work hard and push yourself, set yourself a goal to achieve. Anything is possible when you set your mind to it. You’ve got to have a passion for hairdressing and hair extensions to get where you want to be. Keep promoting yourself, keep your standards high and make each individual client feel special.

On a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being extremely nervous and 10 being extremely excited, tell us how did you feel before your award win was announced?

As soon as I arrived in Leeds, my nerves turned into excitement when I saw the venue and how amazing it looked!

How did it feel when your name was announced on the night?

It was an amazing feeling; I was over the moon. The girls from the salon and I celebrated and I was on a high all week!

How will you use your awards success to promote your business, particularly your Great Lengths Extension service?

We are promoting our awards a lot online and I also tell all of my clients about the awards when they enter the salon.

What are you and the salon looking forward to next?

I am looking forward to getting even busier with Great Lengths extensions clients in the future, making even more people happy with their hair and entering more awards!
